alright boys and girls i have a 29 gal tank that one of the end panes was broken out. i have already gotten it ready to put another pane in only problem is i need a pane so i was thinking some 1/4 inch acrilac so it dosnt bow. and that is gona cost me $30. and i can pick up another tank for $40 i love the diy idea but what wuld you guys do? im gona be using the new or repaird tank as an upgrade for my salt water tank. and wuld like an answer soon if you culd thank you in advance duster1971.

I'd just get another tank, save yourself the headache if you haven't repaired tanks before. That way you know it will be solid

ya i wuld love to get another glass pane only problem withthat is that a new glass pane will cost me $60 and that is un cut its gona cost$75 for one to be cut to size and i can buy a 29 gal kit for $120 or i can just get a 55gal for $120 but as of now i dont have a stand or cash to build one a good one any way.

ya posted befor me i have repaird tanks befor my 110 gal was my first and that was a front pane didnt leek and still dosnt as far as my freind tells me lol. but ya i dont realy like the effort in repairing them but love to see my handie work lol im leaning mor twards a new tank tho

i would buy the 55g for $120. imo its not worth repairing when the same price will get you a new one. regardless of size, although the price of the glass seems expensive for one pane cut to size.

and the reason i would get the 55, is beacuse.... bigger is always better. ;-)

Ha, yea I hear ya, its a good feeling makin somethin with your own two hands, ha. But it's also a good feeling having a new tank for almost the same price.

ya im really leaning twards the 55 gal but i have to save my cash so i can get an gatf and a pbass but hey if i work a lil over time i can prob get every thing lol. id like a 125 i can get one for 500 thaught i culd get a 220 for 100 but guy backed out and said 700 and its acrylic.

If you are set on getting a bigger saltwater tank fast I would say pic up the tank for 40 bucks. Then save your money and take the 29 that is broken strip it completely and make 1 tank using the front and back for 2 viewing window. with that you can have a big tank for the pbass and maybe the gatf

good idea, use the front and back panes in a plywood build. set it as 2 viewing windows at the front, could have a good size plywood build for low cost.

although ill admit its easy to say try this and that, but ill admit i have never tried a plywood build although i want to, i just know i would never get the seal right for the glass lol.

but then you could have your new tank and a bash at DIY.
;)
