im trying to build a sump, but i really dont want to drill a hole in my tank, is there another way? cant i just have my canister pull water out of the tank to the sump and then another canister pull the water out of the sump and back to the tank?

Thats fine. I wont argue with you there. I have yet to find an HOB overflow that I actually like, thats why I decided to drill my tank. Its really not as hard as people make it out to be.PEVINE11;4492541; said:air type siphons are old school (like for example CPR CS50's and other models)
now its recomended to use a over flow with a 'U' tube.
the CPR ones (and simmilar) has problems with the pump- the hose to the pump would often get debree or a small amount of alage groth and the over flow would not start. so the sump/refugium would empty overflowing the main tank
