I love both community and cichlid aquariums!!!!:) Planted tanks are not for me, I have the worst luck.:(

Gold/cherry barbs, pearl danio. If it was larger I would say Rosey barbs and Giant danios, I like those 2 better.

Maybe upside down catfish. Make sure you get at least 6 UDC or they will be "downright reclusive" according to planetcatfish.com. IF there are enough they will be out in the open, shoaling among plants and under logs. My 3 are pretty reclusive, but it is so awesome and totally worth it just seeing them for 5 minutes in a week.

You could put in a dwarf gourami as a centerpiece. Plastic plants can be pretty nice if you have the right ones. DONT buy pink ones. Get green ones and the fabric-like kind attached to ceramic logs at wall-mart.

ok see this helps. well for community a nice schooling fish would be grat, some sort of largeish tetras or barbs. top dwellers like hatchets , danios, i have a new found lve for halfbeaks too. killis. for bottom u can do a nice pleco that stays small like blue phantom, gold nugget, clown, king tigers ect. depends on what u like really. nice schoo or corydoras would also look nice. If u like cichlids then u can try maybe a blue ram as a centerpiece fish. a pair of kribensis. depends all on u. anything that would help it narrow down?

It's not luck, it's skill. No worries though, I haven't ventured down that road either.
