I have a 180 gallon freshwater aquarium. I want to keep a motoro stingray but have a few questions first. the first question is can they handle aquarium salt? i have it in mine to help with stresss since my tank is only a little over a month old. second question is do they have to have ro water? i know they like soft water and mine isnt soft since im using tap water. i know the pet store i am getting mine from keeps their stingrays are in tap water and keeps the ph at 7.0. i would use the pillow softeners but that would get quite exspeensive with how big my tank is. i want to keep my ph betwwen 6.6-6.8. i would like to know if that will be too high for the stingrays or too low for the community fish that i have in my aquarium now. i just dont want to shock the stingray if i use ro water and keep my water levels completely different than the pet stores water levels. any advice is appreciated. thanks

First off a motoro ray can not live in a 180 it will out grow an 180 within a year. You will need ATLEAST a 3 feet wide tank. And yes ro water is the best to use for rays sence they need their ph to be 6.8-7.4

+ 1 too true! Sometimes, people ask, "What is best way for ensuring I will get stung by pet FW Stingray?" Well, one of the non-violent methods to get yourself stung is to make sure you do not give FW Stingray enough room to rest tail in straight position inside tank, ie, make tail bend around because tank walls not far enough apart, LOL!
