I need stocking suggestions!

earlier i was considering options for my tnak that were fairly common fish, but now i have a check made out to my favorite lfs, the best one around. so, i can find some hard to get species.

lets say weve got an empty 38gal tank. I need suggestions for stocking this tank (36" x 12" x 20")

planted tank with a school of angel fish and tetras of your choice. but id go with neons

I have been intrigued by puffers lately. These would be pretty unique and are not a super expensive fish.
