knew jerzay
i know the species and how to id them but...

How fast do they grow?

would a delhezi be fine with 10 giant danios a agreen terror in a55g?

Would a ropefish be fine with the above stock list?

What do bichirs really eat?

Is gravel fine as a substrate?

Would they really be able to eat a 2-3 inch fish that are very fast?

thanks

Gravel is not a good idea, sand or bare-bottom are recommended because bichirs have been known to accidentally eat and afterwards been unable to pass gravel, killing them.
Giant danios likely to be bichir food eventually. No telling for certain until you try, but it's very likely. Green terror iffy.
Ropefish... I want some too, but have no actual experience.
Bichir food, anything meaty, they're carnivores, but will on occasion eat algae tabs. Mine are greedy, very easy to feed.
As far as fast fish, they still sleep, and bichirs are primarily night feeders.

Read Beblondie's stickied primer, lots of excellent info there and quite readable(Won't set you to snoozing). Just about everything in it is usable to anybody even half serious about keeping these awesome fish. I go back and reread it every now and then just to make sure I've squeezed everything out of it I can, as well as her other poly stickies.

Did you just waste other members time by ignoring their post from you other tread? http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=289776. Telling you that Giant danois would soon become food for bichirs. Green terror should be fine with bichirs but that would depend on the size. Even a fully grown green terror might snack on them.

Please don't be lazy and read the stickies or use the search as there are so many tread just like this. "55G tank+bichir+what tankmates?". I'm not sure how many are there now but it's keep popping out every week or 2. Sometimes every months.

"Would they really be able to eat a 2-3 inch fish that are very fast?"
Even the fastest fish at that size will still get eaten.

all you need to know are available from this forum, go dig them, but if you really want to keep bichirs, you will find it better keeping bichirs by themselves.

Just get some, you will not be dissapointed, infact you will be addicted just like all of us,and you will be thinking,if i sell that fish or if i get a bigger tank i can have some more lol

Basically anything that you think they may be able to eat, multiply that by 2 and your somewhere near, i put my smallest endli (7")in my big tank as it kept having a nip everytime the sens or any other poly came near it in the growout tank and within 2 hours the 12" endli had got it in its mouth, luckily they are both fine but between my rtg my IT and all my polys i cant pick a favourite, but i did pick up a 10" del and a 14/15" ornate today for £70 lol
Im not addicted in any way lol:D:drool:

cheers steve

I keep my Birchirs with 2 green terrors and there havent been any problems so far... I also had giant danios with my birchirs but like people have said they became food reguardless of how fast they are if you watch a Poly hunt they are very methodical and their prey doesnt stand much chance. As for tank size bigger is almost always better a Delhezi might get cramped in a 55g.

I would read the poly primer stickied at teh top of this section. Most of your questions would be answered plus some y ou haven't thought of yet.
