I need to insulate my basement garage door. I lost all my fish but a tad pole. most due to the water temps dropping to low from the sub freezing temps that the heater couldn't over come. my blue gills from bad water due to dead fish.

What I have done. I've removed all the dead fish, did a 90% water change, cleaned all the plants and rocks in the tank, sucked the gravel to the glass during the water change. I changed the 2 of the 3 filters, added salt diluted in water and refilled the tank. I realize my tank will have to cycle to some degree or the other.

What should I do now?

insulating the garage door is probably your best bet(if it's in your garage:D )
you could buy some foam insulation and secure it to the door somehow.

Foam sheets from Home Depot, you can attach them to the wall to insulate.

Refletex is probably the best for that application. It's the silver bubble wrap looking stuff. It's equivilent to about 3" of fiberglass, moisture proof, and easy to work with.

Is this the door to the outside..... if it is and you dont use it a would also suggest covering it from the outside with plastic sheeting, same for any windows. this will keep the draft out.
