I have had this running now for near 6 months and it has come time to sort the noise out that it makes, its driving us crazy now.
I have been reading throught he stickys but i am warry if i do something to it i mite mess the flow up.

It is a 150g tank with a 40g sump, the complete overflow is of 1.5 inch pipe and returned by 2 800gph pumps.

The noisey area i want to sort out is the water entering the pipe at water level in the tank, it gurgles like a bath near empty.

here is a diagram of what i have running.

Can anyone tell me how i can make it run quieter please.

wayne:)

Sorry forogt to say that what i was going to do was move the T section up to water level and lower the intake, just dont want to incase it messes up the whole set up.

From CHOMPERS in a previous thread:

If gurgling is an issue, add a ball valve to the exit of the overflow. By adjusting this to just the point where gurgling stops, the flow in the hose to the sump will be tuned exactly to the maximum flow of the overflow.

Be careful adding valves to your overflow you may end up pumping some of your water over the top of the tank if the pump is going faster than your overflow.

If it works on the PVC DIY HOB thats great. Ive just read a few threads about this being an issue to watch for.

What can i say, that wasnt very hard to sort:nilly:, i have done what you say mate from this
