I have a 125 with a sunshine oscar, male jag, snook, female sal, male pink con, and a severum.

I don't think its overstocked now, but all the fish are only about half of their max size. I want to get rid of the male con and female sal because they are troublemakers. Everyone else is really really passive. Do you think if I keep the water changes up I should be alright with an oscar, jag, sev, and snook? My oscar only eats once a day, by choice, and the biggest pig/most bioload is definitely the snook. I have a rena xp3 and an emperor 400.

Wait how big do snooks get??? They don't get bigger than jags do they?

I keep getting compltetly mixed info on this, but I have never seen a snook over maybe 14-15 inches. The LFS nearby has a breeding pair that are probably well over 2 years old and the male is maybe 14 inches but the female is considerably smaller (10" maybe).

Well I guess you could keep it and grow it out. It's peaceful and gets along well. If it gets too big you can give it to me. :naughty:

Oh and I want to emphasize the extra filtration. Big fish produce big amounts of waste.

The recommened tank size posted on the box of your xP3 isn't taking MonsterFishKeepers like us into account.

Male Petenia splendida reach lengths up to 18 to 20".

Look at Parachromis dovii - I got a breeding pair that are about 6 inches long - but a male will get up to 28 inches.
Also; they slow down on their growth after a year (about 12 inch long)

OK so your saying it will take well over a few years to get to that 18 inches. Thats fine, I just need it to be alright untill I am out of college.

I want to make a wet/dry but my tank isn't drilled. I could never get an answer on how to do it without using a diy overflow box (that would look terrible IMO).

I want to use a powerhead to withdraw the water to the wet dry, and then use a pump to put it back, but I figured I would need them both to be exactly in sync for it to work.

I have an xp1 lying around if I need it, but there isn't any need as of right now. I plan on buying a canister filter off ebay whenever I win an auction.

There was a thread about this a while back (I think poopsmart actually started it). Yes this is their potential size, but has anyone ever seen them anywhere close to this? The pair described already at 14" is the largest I have ever heard of. Bogwoodbruce has the next largest I've heard at 13".
