if you think the cat can swallow the gar, then it will probably try to do so. if not, the gar will quickly outgrow the cat and either shred it, kill it, and/or eat it. not a good combo either way--

yea i really want the gar cas its my favorite fish so i think the cats gunna have to go

i put them together for 2 days and sure enough the cat kinda nipped at the gar so i took him out but im bringing my shovel nose to this really nice place where i got him which will give him a brand new home so things will all work out good:D:D:D:D im gunna miss the lil bugger tho but hey its worth it i think

if he can last for a good year without getting messed up you'll be in the clear because he'll be too big to be eaten by it(or by anything else for that matter) and he might even take your cat out in the process. it just depends on which fish you like better.

i gave the shovelnose back to the place i bought him a half year ago ago and they said they new someone that was looking for one that had a 200 gallon tank so it worked out great right now i got my gar in a 55 gallon but i will soon be getting a 180 gallon tank in about a month so the gar should be set for a while in the 180 gallon tank thnks for ll the help i appreciate it

if it's a gator gar it (180g) would work comfortably for about a year at most (speaking on the usual sizes gator gars can reach in a year) --

yea wen it outgrows that my friend has a 1000 gallon freshwater tank built into his wal and he really wants a nice alligator gar so he said he would take it off my hands wen it reachs the point of not being able to live in the tank because of size and yes it is an alligator gar

how bigs ur tank? I'm thinking 2 months max for the gar to outgrow the lima:) these guys grow faster (in terms of length) than RTCs... thats based from exp tho.
