I have two red tiger motags (7" male and 4" female). The male is extremely peaceful with other fish...except when with her. He attacking my TSN relentlessly. He also killed a large jaguar. I would like to keep the two together, as their colors are much more vibrant in pairs. Is there anything I can do with the tank (135 gal) to keep him calm? Do I need to remove him? What size tank do I need in order to keep the pair together?

Looks like maybe your only option is to seperate the two with a divider.

It's not attacking the female is it? I thought he said the RTM was attacking and killing OTHER fish when kept together with the female.

To keep them together as a pair, you may have to give them their own tank. On the other hand, if you want to keep a community tank, you have to do what is necessary to preserve the community. That would mean removing the female so the male isn't killing the other tankmates. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like you can have it both ways with this paticular RTM. GL

I assumed he meant the male is attacking the female.

ah he is saying the male is peaceful with others but not her.

get a divider, cut a piece out that the female can fit through and let her in there. then she knows where she is safe, perhaps you just havent got an actual pair you know?? you cant just stick a male and female together and they are a pair, you need them to like each other lol.

That's not how I take it. He said, "The male is extremely peaceful with other fish...except when with her. He's attacking my TSN relentlessly. He also killed a large jaguar".

So to restate it, when the female is present, he attacks the TSN relentlessly and killed a large Jag. When the female is not in the tank, he is peaceful with other fish. No where does it say the RTM is attacking the female. He's asking what size tank does he need to keep the pair together peacefully with other fish.

well in that case remove the TSN and keep the pair together on their own or with other cichlids it doesnt attack.
