I just ordered 4 C. diplogramma from my LFS:)...I did have to explain that even though they look very similar to a micropeltes, they are in fact a different species.

They couldn't say anything about when they would be able to get them...but I am willing to wait for them.:D

When I get them, I'll let you guys know.

Thanks for the link Jelly, I bookmarked it.

Anything else you can tell me about it?..
I was a bit surprised that its more "mellow" than a micro, though of cause not two fish are the same.

I have a 180x60x60 lined up for them, but depending how big they are when I get them, they might start out in my 90x45x45 or 120x60x45, a bit easier to feed them.

The article said that juveniles have been caught in brackish water, does that mean that adding salt would be beneficial?

I am like a little boy, waiting for x-mas:grinno:....can't wait until they arrive.

they have indeed been caught in brackish , but also in full fresh it would suggest that unlike most channa they are tolerant of a certain amount of salt , however they are still mainly a freshwater fish and do very well in freshwater. i would not add any salt

excelant choice of fish by the way. http://www.snakeheadsuk.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=5008428 here are some pics for you , most are of jellys but gives you something to look at until they come lol

As Tropheus will confirm, I am a bit fanatical about Diplogramma, I wrote that artical. (i need a trumpet smiley here) I could go on for hours about them.

As already said no salt. Keep in fresh water. The 180x60x60 should be fine. I really do suspect them to be relitively small. I would however recomend giving them as much space as possible, mine is much more active now it is in my 8'

Lots of Channa can be subdivided into smaller groups, Stewarti group, Gachua group etc. Micropeltes and Pleuros are together within a group and the two of these are poles apart in behavour in captivity. In the wild outside of breeding Micros are relatively social with there own kind. It's the confines of space in captivity that increases the impact of their behavour. I strongly believe Diplogramma are part of the same group. Very simaler shape colouration and general behavour to the Micro and Pleuro. Somewhere between the two.

Generally open water swimmers are less terratorial because they have fairly lose terratories. Not known yet but I suspect they become aggresive only when breeding.

Cost wise they are relatively expensive but not excessively, in the UK probably about £200. They are for some reason difficult to get hold of.

Any question please ask.

Thanks Tropheus and Jelly

Yeah i can wait till they arrive, though when, i haven't faintest.. might be a year from now, but i don't care..they are worth waiting for!

The ones i have seen for sale over here, have been priced at around 55us for juveniles (around 15cm)..so rather cheap!

Just took a look at the pictures...damm!! they are gorgeous!
You are lucky jelly!!..how big is it?
