i picked up fluval 304... questions

i picked it up this canister a few days ago for free

is it any good?

should i just buy new media or can i boil the existing to make sure it is clean?...

how many gallons per hour?

will it be better than my emp 400 and penguin 150 HOB's?

The bio beads are expensive. Hydrogen peroxide will sanitize them for use. Same with the foam. Boiling will kill germs but may destroy the foam. I have had 303s and 205s, but never a 304. If it is anything like it's predecessor and successor, it is a good filter.
