Ok thank you for looking all.

My Friend has a baby Ball python. He Insists on feeding it Live prey. I completely disagree. He says if i can PROVE it is better to feed thawed food to his snake, he will try to switch.

Im just concerned for the pythons well being.

AND if you think he should switch POST. I need all the post i can get to convince him.

And if you believe in thawed, how can he switch over?

Ok I fer sure think thawed is better. Not only is it more humane to the mice it is more humane to the snake because the snake can get hurt by the mice. They have teeth and claws and can cause some serious damage. I have heard of snakes dying due to infection caused by a bite from live prey.

thank you, anyone else?

I've fed live mice to all of my snakes for much longer than most of you have been alive (30 years or so). I've yet to have a snake hurt by a mouse...as far as it bieng less cruel to feed frozen... Snakes hit hard and in general kill a LOT faster than freezing.

They are not killed by freezing. They are usually killed my CO2 which is very painless.

Thank you wolf, but dont you think there is a chance of one getting Hurt? DO you personally own ANY ball pythons?

a pic is better than a thousand word :D

they are not my snake, random pic from the internet, but I did seen an albino burmese python bitten by a rat in the head before ^^ similar scar to the boa in the pic

Anythings possible of course but snakes have managed to feed themselves quite well for thousands of years without our help. We toss 'feeders' in our tanks for little more than the pure joy of watching our preditory fish go to town but feeding one of the worlds most prolific and destructive varments to a snake is cruel? I'm having just a bit of trouble with that concept...

No pythons at the moment but I've had a few over the years. At the moment my wife and I raise our own mice and stick with kingsnakes for the most part.
