I purchased 2 large Fei Fengs (12" each). It was shipped last night and I received it this morning.

Once I open the box, I noticed one of the fei feng was floating upside down, I was like CRAP !!, the other one was on its side...

So I took all the bags out of the box and let the room temp stabilize the temp inside the bag.

I took a closer look at the floater, and I saw his mouth was moving....I thought there is hope after all..

I put them in a 20 gallon bucket, I run 2 air pump pumping O2, heater and I also added 3 gallon of warm water mix with aquarium salt.

Now, the floater is not moving his mouth at all and he's floating upside down with his belly barely touching the surface..

IS HE DEAD ? Bloater problem ?

More importantly, antyhing I can do at this point ?

I need as much as positive thoughts from all you guys for the poor guy, I hope he makes it through..

PS: The other one is fine and swimming around already..

Maybe try holding it under or putting it in a current?

you should've just dumped the fish immediately into your tank.

you see, that fish was probably suffering from oxygen deficiency and after you open the bag, all the ammonium in the shipping water becomes ammonia (which is highly toxic).

at that point, when your fish is upside down, get that thing out of the bag and place it directly into your tank ASAP. or at least immediately introduce your tank water into the bag (using a big container) and acclimate it within a minute or two.

hope the fish is ok and you'll know next time.

I did just that. I dumped both bags into the 20 gallon container and I started to add about 2-3 gallon of tank water and removing the same amount out of the bucket.

I knew about ammonia and I wanted to get rid of it as much as I can, I can careless about shock, he's already dying.....

It didn't work, he didn't make it.

This is one of my happiest days with finally being able to get a larger fei feng, but also the saddest since I also lost one and he never even made it to my tank...

I did left him in the 20 gallon bucket for over 4 hours...I'd rather know he's dead for sure, than assume he's dead already.
