I really want a burm so bad haha! At hamburg I held one and it was so awesome! It would be in my house if they were not illegal in NY... Sometimes the law sucks...

Think it through man.............

I have no problem with people getting such snakes if/when they are truly prepared to get them... but the vast majority are bought withuot truthfully considering the full dynamic...

Firstly isn't size alone, it's size and age. Not only will you have a 10'+ snake to deal with... but you will have a 10'+ snake to deal with for 20+ years... Ask yourself, are you at a place where you can honestly predict a fair assumption of the next 20 years and can you allot the time/space/finance to properly maintain such a snake?

Are you married now? and if not are you willing to sacrifice an otherwise perfect mate because they are not interested in starting a family with a 10' snake in the house?

While I know there are a handful of very responsible large snake keepers in the world... there are a lot more than a handful of large snakes out there....

I would let it go. They get boring after about a month. Theres nothing that makes me want a burm ever again.

very true. probaby the first person iv seen thats ever put it like that. thats a point i miss out because i suppose in a way its common sense.

my burm is my baby. iv just built a 8x3x3 viv for him. hes currently at 12ft and is shedding after every meal.
i have a 4yo little girl but i will always get him out while shes not there or in bed (unless i have 5 or 6 friends round) and ALWAYS with another 1 person at least. although if it is just 1 person i make sure that they have experience with large snakes, and if hes out around people that havnt had experience with them i explain to them what to do if he was to constrict me or bite etc before i get him out.

im currently single, mainly because everyone that comes in my house does a runner, unless they r snakey friends lol. but so be it.

im always keeping my eye out for an anaconda, but that is something i cant do till im married to have a constant back up handler (or a partner) and know im going to be in a house that a) has space, b) im not planning on moving out of and when know i can afford the large food it will need....also to b able to afford to run its pond lol, so its more of a dream for 10years time haha.

im pushing it with my burm but to have another considerably large snake while im on my own would b irresponsible.

im not saying hes evil, infact hes soft as pooh, BUT they still have their off days. and i respect him if he doesnt wana come out, then he doesnt come out.
but they are fantastic snakes and an amazing experience.
