I have a 55 gal planted tank that is cycling- when I go to put "real fish" in I really want a gt- but I don't want one solitary fish in the tank. Are there any tankmates suitable for a tank this s ize w/ a GT? If not I will go with angels or something else. Thanks in advance!

Cons, firemouths, Raphael Cat, any smaller 6-7 inch or less cichlid who can hold their own.

Also, GT+Planted=not planted any longer. Very few cichlids allow plants. It can be done, but I doubt with a GT.

LOL- I know- I got the plants planning on having guppies....and then I saw the green terrors:hearts: So could I possibly do a GT and a firemouth, along with a bristlenose pleco?

i would give that a go.. plants on driftwood could be ok!

That sounds like it might work. I would throw a con in there as well.

cool...my lfs has some very good looking pink convicts, and if memory serves me they were smaller than the GT's...

SO it's either the GT, convict, fm, pleco combo
OR
the Agels, Dwarf Gourami's, Rainbows and Pleco combo

LOL, my tank needs to hurry up and cycle before I have time to come up with more ideas:D I'm just dying to put something interesting in there, these minnows are kinda boring.

i personally like the first idea best :)

I do too, if I can convince my 5 1/2 year old that we only need 4 fish. She is quite demanding. (Of course I can always visit LFS by myself).

you can also try an oscar
