I bought this Garra Rufa and quarantined it for more than a week. It is very active and eats and moves a lot. But after couple of days, I started noticing these spots appearing on it. It was one and then two and now more than 6. It looks like that scale from the fish is removed. I am not sure if this is natural skin process for this fish or it could be a disease that I don’t know. Please let me know if this is a disease so that I remove the fish immediately. Otherwise if it normal then I will keep him, as he is a good scavenger and cleans everything. Please see the photos.
Appreciate your help. As I am new to the world of fish keeper and still learning from you good people.

Looks like missing scales. They usually heal with clean water.

thank you. But why would the scale go missing? Is it because other fishes might have nipped ? Or it is because he is always on the move?

Either or both. It could be that a tankmate is nipping the fish, its scales got torn off by sharp decor or similar, or these happened simultaneously.

I'll second the question of what else is in the tank.

Thanks. Got rid of the Garry rufa. Gave it to a friend.
So this culprit rainbow shark can he be a problem for my other fishes ? I mean to my plecos?

Have you seen the rainbow shark harassing the plecos? I think they would be fine, since plecos are armored and quite sedentary compared to rainbow sharks (in other words, protected and not likely to be of interest in the first place).
What you really want to worry about is adding something new. He sees the tank as his territory, so anything new will be relentlessly attacked.
