so my new tank(45 gallons 48x18x12) currently has 5 ruby barbs, a 6" syno cat(done growing) and a adult bn pleco.

ive decided im going to add keyhole cichlids, which i can get next week.
i was planning on adding 3. but i mentioned it to my gf and she wants me to add 5.
consider this tank a long term home.

over stocked?
other thoughts?

is there any way i can edit the title haha

are you looking to get a breading pair or have all five for the long term . i would suggest a male and two or three females two males will fight and you may loose one

Damn, really?
Not looking for a pair just for a group. All I've been reading is how friendly they are with each other.

2 males and few females in a group in small or giant aquarium then they still cause some dramas :D it's nature cause hehehe
Also, 5 more into your current aquarium then it gonna look crowded, I would suggest just get a pair or 1 male 2 females for now.

I think 5 would be fine. IME keyholes are literally the most peaceful cichlid I have ever owned, even moreso than rams, curviceps, etc. They are absolutely adorable! My favorite dwarf!
