I had a very peaceful community tank. I started feeding the larger frozen krill yesterday. Now, the Con is in one corner, the JD is in another, and the Jag is up at the top. This seems like a storm might be brewing. Is it the bigger food creating difference? This is why I haven't tried live food.

could be... i know some members have noticed a difference in aggression levels after feeding live food but not the frozen, how big are the fish? maybe this just triggered the JD and Jag into realizing they are bigger now and want more space to themselves...

They're all under 3 to 4" with the con being the biggest slightly. The con has chased the jag around since I started this tank, but no real aggression. All the jags fins look fine. The jag is hiding, but I think the JD and con are just claiming their own territory. This is just new so I'm hoping that it all works.

That combo was not going to be peacefull for long. If that Jag is a male, he gets some size on him he will not forget that Con terrorizing him. How big is the tank?

throw some dither fish in there to help mix it up. and that con will become food for the jag at some point. u can always feed jd and con on one side and jag on other the same time to make sure everyone eats. but i think dithers will help imensly. And maybe start lookin for another tank;)

I would call them target fish for this purpose but agree 100%. It's amazing how they cancel out a lot of the fighting. I know firsthand, I took all the silver dollars out of my tank and the cichlids all went to town on each other. Put them back in and instant normalcy again.....it's weird.
