I was sitting down and looking at my tank and notice some small white thing attached to a plant, I removed it. I started to wipe down my tank and in the front area by the bottom corner I noticed a small patch of something on the inside. Upon closer look I noticed a few small bugs. They look like anemones, they have a stem and a few arms/tenticles.

I looked around online and they sound and look like Hydras. I dont have experience with these things so I need to know a few things.

Are they harmful?
Why are they in my aquarium, or rather how did they get there?
How can I get rid of them?

I also had a small snail problem but I think I got it under control. But I do see these other things and I am not quite sure what they are. They look like very tine white dots or some have a more stretched body, theyre white and sometimes have what looks like a little brown color to them on one side. Or their body is outlined with orange/brown. They arent planaria, they look nothing like them. And they dont move, or if they do they dont move much or very slow.

Anyone got an idea what these are? Thanks guys

as for the hydra.. congrats they are a sign of a healthy tank.. and at the same time a sign of overfeeding.. they only think they can harm as far as i know is very small fry.. i wouldnt worry about them

for the snails.. also congrats.. they will live in just about anything but for the most part they will onle breed in good water.. if you want to thin them out a bit dont feed for a day or 2 and then drop in a slice of potato.. by morning they will be all over it..

as for the last thing... i dunno..

Im sure they are Hydras. I dont think I overfeed. I only got 3 fish in there, one eats live foods (goldfish and ghost shrimp), A BGK who gets bloodworms and pellets and today it accepted some krill. Im really neat about it, I shut off the filter on the BGKs side and pretty much take the food down to the BGK and I'd say about 98% gets eaten. Only a very tiny bit might get away, and its sucked into the filter once I put it back on. And then I got a pleco who eats all the algae and whatever it can find.

The snail problem isnt much of a problem. They hitch hiked on some live plants I think, and I noticed about 2 or so initially. And I manually removed them.

Every once in awhile I may see another 1 or 2 snails that are very tiny and I remove them. You dont hardly see them, in fact I havent seen any for ahwile. I change the water and vacuum the ground pretty good.

This other thing I am unsure about. I dont know if they are planaria or just newly hatched snails. Again, I dont see much of them. I mgiht see one here and one there, and they dont move really. They look like a slug, but not really. They are very tiny and they appear to be mostly white and sometimes might have a bit of brown/tan color on one side or outlined around their body. Some are found inside the tank, and some are found above the water line. The little region above the water line and below the tank top, they hang outside the water there sometimes. I dont know if they are trying to leave the water or what. So I dont know what they are but I try and remove them when I see them.

About the Hydra, should I leave them or remove them? Something about bugs worries me, even if they are harmless. I dotn know, its just weird.

I couldnt get any pics of the Hydras but I got a pic of the other thing, its not that good, but maybe you can make it out.

Limpets.

Yes, thats them. Im not 100% sure but lookign at some pics I found and some description it sounds and look alot like them. I cant find much info on the ones I have, I mostly find saltwater limpets. Do you know anything about them?

Im probably gonna get rid of all these creatures. In a week I will do a water change and scrub the tank and vacumm the gravel. Something about little creatures like these bother me, even if they are harmless.

I woke up this morning to the same problem I was sitting down having my morning coffee and admiring my little oscars and I noticed these little white worm/ slug looking things they do move slowly so I was flipping out trieing to find out what it is and what to do with it so I moved my oscars to a holding tank and am in the process of tearing it down I am glad I keep a tank going with nothing in it just for emergencies .... any help is really appreciated

i found somthing like that sticking to the scales of my gold fishes before.. years agor... are those things harmful?
