I think I might have a chance at a male..

Here are 2 of my smaller Dovii, I really think one of them is a male due to it's growth rate, blue on the fins and it's starting to form spots above it's line. It's currently around 3" but I'm going to measure him tonight to know for sure. The blue is still light so it's drowned out by the flash but it's there

In the first pic I'm talking about the one on the right (pic was taken about 1.5 months ago when I purchased them), I believe the other one to be a female. I know it's not the most remarkable dovii but for now I'd be happy just to have a male

So what do you think?

definatley a male IMO but i dont know why you said "i know its not the most remarkable" why's this?? i seen loads of dovii this size with that same look, he's a nice fish.

Because most of the males I see on this board around that size look like a freaking rainbow

I know he'll color up but I'm still jealous of some of the wild caught ones.. Heck it was a disappointment to find out my 6" was a female so I'll be thrilled if it's a male..
