On native fish that is
. It was a slow weekend fishing up in Erie so I had most of a minnow bucket still filled to the brim with a healthy batch of bait. Well upon closer inspection I noticed I didn't just have the several dozen emerald shiners we got but a few other small fish slipped in: yellow perch (well I'm 99.99% sure they're yellow perch, if not they're walleye which would also be fun). So I'm about to leave to go home with nine 2-3" emerald shiners for my riffle tank and three 1" yellow perch for I'm not sure where yet but with 4 soon to be 5 tanks I'll find room
. I always keep hearing if you want to keep yellow perch that it's best to get them 2" or less otherwise they just sulk all day so this was the perfect and only opportunity I've had to get perch under about 4". Hoping they all survive the 2 hour drive and acclimate fine to water that's ph is different (Erie is 8.3-8.9 and my water is 7.6) but nothing a long slow drip acclimation shouldn't solve I hope. Been changing water in the bucket like crazy and I'm working my best to keep them alive as best I can. I'll be sure to update when I get home!
