Hi guys, right now i have my wolf in my 10 gal tank (temporarly). Yesterday, i saw my wolf with some scales SLIGHTLY sticking out. That really freaked me out. so i put some melifix and salt in to my tank. Just a few minutes ago i was surfing the web to find a cure of dropsy, I relized that there isn't a cure. It said that it was a cause of too much medication, too much nitrate, bad liver..... for the too much medication part, when i use my melifix, I never change the water of my tank after a week like I was told so on the instructions. Is this the reson why?? or is it my diet for my fish, I feed my wolf a strict diet of shrimp and pellets. I change the tank once every 2 weeks. also for one side of my wolf, there seems like a horzontal "crack" which is aboub 4 inchies across that side of his body. one the other side, some parts of my wolf is kinda redish (not natural red) on my wolf . what happened to my wolf? i am going to the LPS today. Need answers ASAP.:nilly:

What are your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings?

Hasn't your fish been in this temporary 10 gallon for a couple of months now?

i tried again 2 months ago for about a month. but the bichirs were always bullying him:(. I'm waiting for abigger tank.

The bigger tank wont help your wolf from bichirs. some bichirs are just nasty and kill. Your wolf seems to have it rough. I would buy a 40 gallon just for him. Also you should always change water in your tank when adding meds. I do 25% changes every 48hrs after adding meds. Never heard of any meds that say not to change the water except for melifix which i never follow what they say because that crap killed my first aro. Now when i use it its water changes every 48hrs then add some more meds if needed. But i have found that salt is really all you need. Meds are a waste for some fish. Red wolves are very sensitive fish so never do a full dose of meds in their tanks
