After viewing a dramatic new behavior last week, where the snakeheads changed colour and almost danced to eachother i suspect one of them has laid eggs at least 2-3 days ago.

The biggest snakehead is now very ackward, each time i approach the tank he swims quickly to his hiding spot and dont come out, which is very unusal, also he/she dont spend much time eating as normal, only quickly grabbing something to eat and goes back.

These are Parachanna Obscuras, they are about 10-15 cm at the moment in my 85 gallon tank.

Does anybody have a clue to what i should do in case i get some SH babies?
I'm not gonna stick my hand in there to check on a mere hunch, so im gonna wait and see.

Keep us posted

I went downstairs to check on them again, i saw one of them change colours just like i described on the 1. post.
Also, if in fact there is eggs, i think i know what triggers them..

In my 50 cm tall tank i had 10-15 cm with water, and slowly raised the water line with 10-15 cm, and them just poured it full with cold water.

10-15cm or inches. 10-15 cm may be a little to small for Obscura to breed I may be wrong. If they have great, Please keep us posted.

If one is running and hiding every time you go to the tank there has probably been a terriortorial dispute and he/she is the loser.

I'm hoping they have breed of course.

the one that goes hiding is the biggest of the bunch, and he/she is the one that has the dominant one in the tank.

So i don't know, i hope of course they have breed.

Do you know how many eggs they normally produce?

And its in cm, not inches.

No i don't.
I cant see where the cave is, i have so much driftwood in there its hard to see from any angels.

i always though channas would be aggressive when they are prego. Aren't they known to be aggressive parents? If he's hiding i don't think thats aggressive he should be attacking the glass
