I think something is wrong with my Firemouth

Hi,


My Firemouth hasnt been eating for 1-2 weeks. He used to eat anything, then awhile back he got picky and would only eat pellets. For some reason now hes not been interested in food. Hes also been hiding alot. I dont know whats bugging him.

Water parameters are good and have been stable. All other fish are fine. About 3 weeks ago I started treating the whole tank with parasite clear. Theres was no sign of real problems other than scratching. So at the very least I know they might have some flukes. So I been treating the tank for this and also as a preventive. Just wanna know what I can do for my FM, I am getting a little worried. He hasnt eaten and hes been hiding, and hes kinda skinny, but not starving skinny.

Hes with a rainbow cichlid 3 inch, blue acara 4 inch, sajica 1 1/2 inch, and 2 Jaguar cats 4-5 inch.

I dont think hes getting bullied, I watch them and never see it. In fact hes the most aggressive in the tank. He flares his gills, bumps other fish and even bites. But all this is never serious to other fish.

Possibly bloat, Firemouth are prone to it although mine never physically bloated either. I lost three to identical lethargic behaviour and eventually found the cause to be a diet too high in seafood based meats (I fed a custom gelatin mix with 50% seafood), after I received PM's from numerous people with the same issues and same diet.

Hmm, it could be.

Hes thin, but it could still be an issue with the food. Ive fed him a variety of foods, but after awhile he would only want Hikari pellets, he'd even eat the catfish pellets too. But then, now hes not hungry. Im hoping he gets over it and starts to eat again. He hides when he sees me. But if I am a distance away hes out and about with the other fish. For some reason hes scared of me now, which is why he hides.
