So one of my acquaintances is trying to sell his 125 gal setup. He has a custom t8 canopy, sump, protein skimmer, some co2 tanks, 100 lbs of live rock, and stand are all coming with it and he is asking for 300 bucks for all of it. Does this sound like a steal of a deal?

What are some things i need to look for in used tank? and in a used sump system?

Well, it does sound like a good deal if it comes with everything. Also, I am pretty sure the live rock alone is worth a few hundred alone.

Look for water damage on the stand and make sure the silicone on the tank looks good. As for the sump, I would look for cleanliness. There is no reason it should be overly dirty. Also, how old is everything and why is he getting rid of it?

Sounds too good to be true lol look for any mistakes or something wrong if nothing is wrong I would grab that thing in a heartbeat

Sounds like a good deal, if hes moving and cant take it with him that may explain the good deal - low price to sell it fast and forget about it. Just make sure everything looks and works fine. Definatly keep us posted.

I live near an Army base and guys are always unloading their tanks cheap when they get deployed.
I'd look at it, ask his maintenance schedule, when did he have it fully operational last, and how long was it running for.
