I tried the other day but I cut the tilapia too thin and they just ripped it apart.

Dude you got it before me. I've seen my bichirs do it sometimes but never have the camera ready. And when I do the video is too dark. Gotta buy a HD camcorder.

If you feed them with large chunk of fish like this every meal, they might do it, but it seems it's easier for the big brutes to shake their heads and tear a piece.

Most meals are some sort of pellets frozen is 1 or 2 times a week.

Ropefish are more common to see the to do death rolls. The trick of making a bichir to do death roll is to starve them for a week or 2 and put a big semi-sliced tilapia. Mine went crazy before.
