So I was under the impression EBJD are tame. I have one who is about 2.5 inches and after seeing if he can hang in a larger tank he decides to start a fight with my 4 in Blood Parrot. Trying to move the BP from his spot in the tank.

I had to put him back in the grow out tank, afraid he would get killed. I am wondering will this behavior settle down once he matures and gets a little bigger. Of course I was under the impression these EBJD where less aggressive then the regular JD.

Lol. I maybe in some cases, but a jack dempsey, is indeed a jack dempsey. It wasnt named after a famous figure skater. ;)

Every fish has a personality of their own but for the most part ebjd are less agressive than standard Jack Dempsey. I believe the first breeder called them pacific dempsey as in peaceful. I have an ebjd that has become vicious as he has grown. An ebjd who can handle himself is definately one to keep lol.

I lost my 7" male ebjd last month (my avatar pic) and he ran my 220 with an iron fist. Stocklist was 4" Firemouth, 4" convict, 6" male GT, 3.5" cuban, and a 5" green severum. When he died the GT immediatly became a new fish. And jumped to the top of the pecking order. My ebjd was a beast. He killed a 3" salvini and a 2.5" texas in one day. In think some are just as aggro as regular JD's.

That's a pretty impressive group of fish for an ebjd to be dominating. What happened to that monster? Sucks he died.

I had him 3 years. Raised him from 1.5". He was the definition of perfect health. Then on a Tuesday he quit eating. Wednesday morning he looked rough so I put him in my hospital tank. Wednesday evening he died. I was very sad, I made a thread in this same section if u wanna look it up. It had a few pics I believe. Amazing fish

Ryan you are right every fish has there own personality.

There is so much variation with ebjd. Color, fin shape and length, attitude and hardiness can be much different in ebjd from even the same spawn.
