My male blue ram has a female blue that he has already paired up and spawned with. Well two days ago I brought home a female and male gold ram pair. My male blue has been displaying to and "dancing" with the new gold female. They seem to be getting quite cozy. Swimming together and looking at spawning sites. My question is do male german blue rams form groups with females? I always heard that they were monogamous? My male is also still displaying to and dancing with his old female.

Rams are weird that way, they seem to take well to harem and pairing, naturally they are a pairing fish, and you will not find harems of rams in the wild, but in the aquarium, they seem to adapt to forming a harem.

In my experience... Rams are like people...

A male will choose the nicest female... and if he can pull it off he'll take two females...

Female Rams want the male all to herself... if she can pull it off she'll kill her competition...

On occasions a male will pull off that perfect balance and enjoy the best of both worlds... but just like with people... it never lasts... lol

Best of luck with your threesome ;)
