I've had haps and peacocks forever, but I'm thinking it's time for a change. I have a standard 125 with an fx5, fx6, and Rena xp3. I thought I wanted new cichlids, but I'm not sure now. What are some good ideas, I'm not sure what I want to do.

I also have a polleni that I may keep, but even that's not completely set.

You have a lot of options, you can go for pike cichlids, shell dwellers and other tanganyikan cichlids, you can go for mbu cichlids, oscars, green terrors, red devils, jack dempseys, flowerhorns, blood parrots, convict cichlids, apistogrammas, madagascar cichlid, tropheus, lelupi cichlids, and the list goes on.

You've done the "community" cichlids thing. Try a single big wet pet. Fahaka?

I've thought of the wet pet idea, a big red devil would be nice, but the tank isn't in a main room so I think I would miss the whole wetpet action.

If I didn't happen upon my new Festae I was going to make that 125 a Convict paradise. Three males seven or so females, bunch of small catfish, bushy nose plecos, Swordtails, big group of tetras lots of rocks, branches, plants.

Cons would stay busy courting, breeding.
Each side keeps the fry of the other in check (Cons vs all others)

Don't give up on the Peacocks & Haps. Just add groups of various aggressive Botia Loaches.
Not the Traditional Clown Loaches, but maybe Green Tiger Botias, Berdmorei Tigers, or Y. Modestas. I keep Modestas, Berdmoreis and a group of baby Zebra Loaches in my Hap / Peacock tank. The Loaches are busy on the lower level while the Cichlids dominate the mid & upper levels of the tank. Not everyone keeps aggressive loaches & the Botias add a new dimension of interest. There really hasn't been any compatibility issues between the Africans & the Botias. 20190420_162114.jpg20190420_160853.jpg
