Just got an 8-9 inch green severum in my attempt to create a relatively peaceful 210 gallon setup. He has my 14 inch oscar in the corner all scared. What's up with that? He is going after everyone!

Every fish is different. My green severum holds his own. And my tank is far from peaceful.

most of the time they are. however i have seen mine get a little aggressive to my oscars. ive even had one dart out and nip at my fingers after they spawned.

Doing better now...seems to have settled in.

Mine at that size are pretty good with other fish......now my new chocolate (that are supposed to be peacefull too!) has ripped a piece off my new oscar's upper lip (through an eggcrate divider!) and they are supposed to live together!!! Both at only 3"....

So, yes, it depends on the fish....:)

Burt:)

The severum in my 125 is the dominant fish in a tank of "peaceful" cichlids, and has been so, since the 'hierarchy' was shuffled when I removed a Dempsey that killed a chocolate cichlid.

seems severums can run anywhere from whimps (not uncommon) to placid yet protective (common) to absolute A@$$holes (pretty rare)

I wish my fish would get an "established" hierarchy. My JD runs it but the Texas is challenging him now. And my GT and RD are having stand off's almost every 10 minutes. I'm hoping once they get a little bigger they will settle in and learn there place. All these fish will not be together forever took a trip today to look at a 210g!!! Now I just have to justify spending more than 1k to get it up and running:(

Sorry kinda off topic, but I do want some sevs once if I get my new tank I really like the gold ones.

you have a RD in there too? chances are that guy will own the tank when they all grow.

Sevs can be aggressive, it is all individual. I have had crazy sevs and I have had peaceful ones. My current 8" gold is not overly aggresive, but keeps the 6" JD in his place.
