I picked up a new Midas today. He's an adult male...haven't measured him yet, but he's definitely not as big as Karma, who is about 13". Got him for free, which is the best part :D I've named him Talon.

Excuse the glass...the tank is majorly scratched and algae grows like crazy in the scratches, and I didn't clean it before adding him, lol.

Nice fish - looks female to me though.
 
I'm honestly kind of thinking the same thing. I mean, the guy I got him from definitely knows his stuff, so I'm inclined to believe him without question...but I had a very brief look at his vent earlier and it looked female to me. I'll have to wait until he's more comfortable and not so shy to get a better look.
 
WOW cant believe I gave it away lol,

female ?? ????? lol... sorry.... but its a boy whom has been beat on by my other Male Midas since they were both very small and was in a tank that he was pretty much being dominated in.

Im sure he will show his true colors soon since you are keeping him by himself now. If it turns out to be a girl well Ill be certainly surprised, as he is very close to the 12" mark though certainly not as thick as your male as he doesnt get all the food.
 
Lol I said I was inclined to believe you without question :P I figure he's probably just not dominant after all the other monsters you had him in with, and now that he's alone maybe he'll ego-up ;)
