I finally took the plunge and bought two Senegals from Petsmart. These are my first Polypterus and they are pretty cool, I gotta tell ya. I put them in a 75 with some Vics. After about 2 days, 1 of the Sens was still floating and I noticed he had some blood around the base of his/her pectoral fins. Looked pretty bad. I moved it to a 20g high and it seems to be recuperating pretty well. It's eating and behaving normally I guess. The Sen that is still in the 75 doesn't come out much, but he eats like a horse. My question is, if I wanted to put this Sen back in the 75 should I get maybe 1 or 2 more? They are both juveniles, maybe 3" each. I didn't see what was beating on it, but my guess is it was the other Sen, I saw it chasing the other one. Would adding a couple more spread the aggression similar to how it works with cichlids? Any friendly advice for a rookie?

I don't think its the other Sen. The usually nip each other a little, but don't deal any real damage.

^^ I agree. Senegals are easy-going fish. ^^

could be the 2 going at it, go buy a few more and see what happens should work out.

Yeah try a couple more if you have the room, but what else is in the tank?

if it is the two fighting, they are probably just establishing territory. my 14" ornate ripped my 11" palmas to pieces and the palmas was constantly bloodied around the anal fin. however 2/3 weeks on and everything is fine. couple of nips here and there but nothing major.
