I have a mbuna tank going, I only got 9 of them to start out with, I was planning on looking into it more and figuring out just what I wanted...well now I have and I was wondering what the best way was to introduce more fish into this tank, as these are some pretty aggressive little buggers! I tried to put a small pleco into the tank and they were on him like white on rice in half a second, so how can I get more fish in there without them getting picked on too badly? I'm wanting to add an acei, a red zebra, and an ob zebra for right now....

Due to tank size and filtration, I would not add any more fish. When the fish you have get older, you will have to upgrade your filter.

as soon as the fish from the 55 move to the 360 they will have the ac110 and an emperor 400, it's a 48 gallon I think, I was aware of having to upgrade the filtration, just waiting for the big tank to get done (hopefully only 2-3 weeks left, yay!)

also, I was told I could house 15-20 fish in here if I picked mbunas, which is why I picked them, it's a 48 gallon tank, was that an incorrect amount to have in here? I love the busy, full african tanks, and I have no problem keeping up on water changes when that becomes necessary (I only change once a week and thats just cause the sand looks nasty, the nitrates never get over 5 in this tank right now)

you might want to add a larger pleco. they seem to do fine in all my African tanks.

I have found that it helps to redecorate when adding fish. it throws off the delicate, territorial balance just enough for the new fish to move in.
