Hey UPDATE TIME!

I currently have a the fx5 running :( as the only filteration right now..along with probably 80 or so pounds of live rock in the main tank. The water parameters are still excellent! I'm thinking of keeping the fx5 and placing a fuge instead of an entire sump.I'm thinking about a fuge because I would like to have macro algae, extra rocks, extra water volume and hide some equipment in the fuge. I could only place a 10 gallon or possibly a 15 gallon tank next to my fx5 under the stand. The skimmer, I still have my goal on the remora/urchin, hoping the remora can hang on the back of the fuge to give more space for rocks and plants, but then agian I don't know how slim is the urchin. Also do you guy's think this would be a good idea?

If you guy's think it's worth getting a fuge (I think it is) with the fx5 I'll ask more questions on the design and other equipment...if everything goes according to plan I'll have my lfs which do installations with very nice pricing construct a fuge.

Now all I need is the skimmer, fuge, wavemaker...hoping that's it lol

Yeah this is 98% similair to the thread in the marine products...hope mod's will close it. Better action in the general :)

A fuge with macro's would be really nice, especially with the fx5 if it were to start kicking out nitrates. The canister is nice for mechanical filtration, just keep it clean. In theory, your tank would be biologically set with all of your live rock, water movement and a stocked refugium. It would provide a place for pods to hide and breed and in turn feed your tank. Your plan sounds fine. I look forward to hearing more updates.

Definitely go with a fuge - for all the reasons you stated. Some people even use it as another fish tank, so to speak. They keep fish/creatures in there that would not survive the main tank.

Thanks for the reply guys, btw shua I thought the same the only thing is that I can only fit a 20 gallon long...The bowfront stand is shaped as a bowfront...not that wide .

LOL then get a 20 tall :D

Lmfao martinez! Actually a 20 gallon tall would fit under my tank. The only thing is I heard from people saying that the sump should be at least 1/3 the gallonage of the main tank. THat's why I'm worried...my aunt purchased a 75 gallon corner and currently has a 20 gallon tall sump...tank look nice and parameters are perfect...then again it's been running for a little bit more then a week :)

Also I'm worried thier won't be a big "fuge" area in a 20 tall sump...my aunt has like a 5 gallon fuge area in her 20 gallon sump.

The biggest sump I could go would be a 30 inch by 12inch by 17inch (L x W x H)...depending on skimmer.

However I like what jworth said...fx5 pretty much eliminates amonia and nitrite (I know, gotta still clean out filter every week or so and gravel vac the sand during water changes) then with this little 10 gallon fuge should be able to make sure nitrates aren't present...for the most part.

I've already been thinking about my future fuge if I go with the 10 gallon. I'll throw in lots of snails (one's that shift sand not algae eating), some peppermint shrimp to pick off any unwanted detriuts, rocks, sand and lot's of plants :).

Tomorrow i'm going to the lfs that installs pretty much anything...I want to see what they can do for me.
