Ok so I would like to light a 75-90 gallon tank with LEDs.... I would rather not spend a million dollars either... Any suggestions? PLEEEAAASSE :)

spend a million, lol, I dont think there is any good way to do this at the moment. Buying used would be my best bet, but I dont think there are very many if any used LED light fixtures for sale.

have a look at cold cathodes for computers, they are BRIGHT and I used to get them 2 12" for $20, they have good color and seemed to last. Also low heat, almost none when compared to neons(junk after using cathodes)

check them out, i could see 4-6 of these maybe getting it done for you.....

So these are LED that would just "plug into" a regular flourescent light fixture? They dont look like LED, could you tell me more about your setup? How many light tubes do you have, are they brighter or dimmer than flourescents? Any help is appreciated, and thx in advance

20watt T8 LED fluorescent tube

You won't have much trouble finding places to get them in a google search or on EBay.

As you can see it's just a bunch of LEDs inside a tube about the same size as a fluorescent tube. You can use a normal fluorescent tube fixture. It doesn't need the ballast and starter and you're supposed to remove or disconnect them.

I didn't use a fixture. I used these: fluorescent bipin end caps, lamp cord to hook up the tubes to the wall power. You can daisy chain the end caps off one lamp cord and the lamp cord can be plugged straight into the first pair of end caps. Right now they're just sitting on top of the aquarium cover. Since nothing is waterproof you'll need to be carefull. I plan on eventually having a hinged frame that I can move up and out of the way when I'm working inside the aquarium. I think the tubes put out as much or maybe a little less less than a fluorescent tube. It really depends on the wattage of the LED tube. My guess is it would be sufficient for a non-planted or low light planted tank. I'd suggest 4 tubes, two 7500K and two 20000K. The 20000K tubes really bring out the color in the fish.

The tubes are quite expensive. I'm hoping that in the LONG RUN I'll break even due to the lower power consumption and heat production.

YMMV

Some have used Christmas lights as the LED lighting and have had some pretty good results. Now talk about cheap? How about 200-300 lights for under $10 and you can customize the setup. Do a search and you will see what I'm talking about

sweet thanks guys
