I'm getting ready to move, so I just have one tank at the moment. My dream fish is a creamsicle Midas, and I really want to get one after I move. I like tanks that have more depth front-to-back, especially for a full-grown 12"+ male. The issue is that it'd be too expensive and heavy for me to set up a 150g+ tank in a place I'll be renting for a year. I think I've found an alternative solution!

I'll be working in the ornamental fish industry, and while touring my workplace I saw dozens of these tanks. I like the practicality of them, and the fact that they're lightweight but get the job done. I've also always loved ponds with an overhead view, and these tanks offer both overhead and side views of your fish. I'd get the 128 gallon one (which actually holds 150 gallons if full). Maybe I could get one used from work, I'm not sure. My other option is to get a 100g Rubbermaid stock tank, but I think they're not attractive at all and don't offer the side view. Anyways, stick an FX5 on it, some substrate and driftwood in, maybe paint the outside black instead of that bright blue, and have a huge Midas in a 48x30 footprint!

This thread shows something similar. I really really like the look of it-- what do you all think??

That is really cool. Looks good and the price is not bad.

they aren't that bad.
on some of the bigger models you could prob make a DIY plywood tank for a little cheaper however these are already together and you won't have to do anything but design the filtration.

Thanks for the ideas, everyone. I'd probably make a DIY acrylic lid to keep on it when I'm not around. It would keep fish from jumping out but also decrease humidity and evaporation, something I'm kinda worried about.

That thread I linked mentioned making a wood frame to place all around the tank and hide the blue fiberglass. It's not a bad idea, maybe something I'll consider. I haven't even moved into the new place yet, so this idea will have to take place several months down the line. I just like daydreaming about it. :)
