Actually a 5-8' Catfish of similar species in any lake or river will eat live fish
So to answer 
If a goldfish were in the lake or river.. Yes But if you read my post you will notice I did not say it was the right fish. AND They would eat larger non fish or non GOLD fish too Say rats frogs or what ever else where the best easiest oppurtunity meal...
