Monoculus ;)
I've been watching vids of these on youtube, and I've fallen in love =O

One of my LFS is closing and I picked up a albino polypterus. He is being housed temporarily in my dads tank till I move into my new place.

Anyways I'm moving in 2 weeks. I just ordered a 120 setup (48"x24"x24").

I already have the black sand, and a ton of driftwood for the tank. I want to go for a natural look. I'm looking for some suitable tankmates.

Any help doing so would be greatly appreciated.

THe only thoughts I've had is a school of congo tetras, and some leopard ctenopoma.

THanks!

A florida gar could last in there for quite some time and is great with polys. (Im doing that with my new 120)

Also Datnoids, Arowanas (will get too big for a 120 tho), the leopard ctenopoma should work, but the congo tetras will get killed or eaten depending on the bichir species.

I plan on putting my Florida Gar, and a bunch of polys in my 120. Specifically upper jaw species: some senegalus, some albino, some delhezi, and maybe an ornate.

first of all congrats on the pick-up! I started off with an albino senegal as well. You won't regret your decision to start a bichir tank. Here's a link to beblondie's list of compatable tankmates to get you started...

if you stick with the smaller upper jaw species congo tetras, african butterfly fish, ctenpomas (sic?), and some of the smaller synodontis species will make great tankmates and create a nice west african river tank. You've got a lot of options with a 120g! Also be sure to check out this thread showing pictures of bichirs' natural habitats...
