I came up with a multiple tank system that has a refugium and surge tank sitting on a 55 gallon tank canopy. There are two 10 gallon tanks for a sump with a wet/dry and surge water. The system would be ran on one pump.
Here is a link to the model in the 3D Warehouse.

I cant really find much about putting allot of weight on a canopy so if you have any experience with that it would be great and any other comments would be cool.

Thanks,
Bill

only problem i see with that is all the weight on the top tank is resting on the bottom tank unless im looking at it wrong?!? nice drawing though! looks cool!

I'm not so sure I'd put that much weight on top of the middle tank. The glass is not only supporting the water pressure but the weight of the top tank too. Maybe with really thick glass it would be feasible but otherwise I'd build a stand to bear the weight.

BTW where did you find the sketch up models of the pipes and bulkheads?

Yep I will have to build it to support the top. The glass could most likely take to weight if it was balanced correctly and stable but there is no way I can see doing that with water and a surge tank filling and draining.

I put up a model of the pipes and fittings I used and a few other things I had saved here’s the link

You can rotate and resize them for whatever you need.

Ill post another link when I get the cabinet redesigned.

Nice sketchup! Looks like it took some serious time to design all that. I agree let the stand support the top tank and you should be good to go.

And a big welcome to mfk to you!
