but it doesn't look like my Royal has grown in the year I've had it!:irked:

Just what is the growth rate for Royal Plecos, because from the way things are going it seems like my Royal will be happy in the 75 for a long time!

what are you feeding? You should see some growth. Does it have driftwood?

Mine doubled in size in 2 months!

Yep, it has three big pieces of wood to chew on.

I feed a variety of food (bloodworms, krill, glass shrimp, algea disks, bottom feeder pellets, etc.)

I bought it at four inches, and looking at it now it has grown maybe an inch, inch and 1/2. It just still seems small for how long I've had it.

They are notoriously slow growers in my experience but some here might disagree.

What kind of royal is it? If it's an L191 it won't get very big no matter how long you have it since they are the smallest sp. of royal panaques (max 10"). Anything else you would absolutely notice growth by now. All are all slow growers, atleast in proportion to max size.

If you have one of the L27s then growth will happen quicker than one of the other "royals". How big is it already, like most things, growth slows down as they age. Try feeding some more fresh vegetables, give it more roughage/fibre.

I've got a L-191 and he's about 6" so he must be quite old.

That's about where mine is. I purchased him about 3 years ago at roughly 2 inches. In 3 more years he should be one cool looking mini monster.
