I would like to buy a gulper catfish. any advise?

Today, I saw the pet store bring new gulper catfishes, smaller size size around 2 inches.

I would like to buy one of them but before buying, I need help with advise. what kind of other fishes I can put together with this gulper catfish.
plecos? puffer? or should it be alone?

Keep it alone. They’ll eat anything and everything no matter the size of what it’s wanting it’ll kill itself trying to eat it. Kolton13

Just know that they are very prone to skin diseases and need to either have a bare bottom tank or sand. I had no issues with sane personally but did hear of issues with gravel.

These things take out fish bigger than them, so best to be left alone.
Definitely not with a puffer, as the toxin means both will die.

A 6" gulper ate a 6" blood parrot at a local fish store. A different gulper also ate a juvenile 9-10" silver aro, it was like the aro was folded in half inside of its stomach. Yeah that's how big of a fish it can eat. Both times the owner was pissed at the workers who put them with other fish in the tank.

Thank you very much guys. I have gravel in the tank and also puffers. If I have to set up a new tank just for this gulper, what would be the minimum tank size for this gulper. can I keep it in 60 liters ?

These guys get quite large. I wouldn’t go smaller than a 40 gallon breeder, or more ideally 75 gallons.
