I would like to have a tank with a blue dempsey as the center of my tank. I would like to know what you would suggest as tank mates. I love a fish with a good personality, and obviously good looks. Thanks for your input. It will result in my next project.

What size tank? If its a 55 or above I say a pair of convicts maybe? but they are kind of generic...

Eh... Id stay away from cons. We all know what happens if they breed.

something less aggressive so the dempsey never gets damaged, like severums or chocolate cichlids.

what about HRPs? They may get aggressive when they breed, I don't know, but they'd look cool. Have a blue theme going on.

Instead of getting another Cichlid you could get quite a few Tiger Barbs or Serpae Tetras (love those, they're red), & a school of Corys for the bottom or a couple Syno cats, a small Plec, etc. That way the JD would get to be 'tank boss' but you'd have a real active interesting and colorful tank.
