I need some help greatly iam trying to seal two drilled holes in my acrlic tank, they're on the bottom of the tank, i have a piece of acrylic and weld on # 16 but it never , after five times now has given me a watertight seal, even after lightly sanding the surfaces i want to join and waiting 24 hours for it to cure fully.

help.

i need a glue for acrylic that will do a watertight seal. currently i have tried ips weld on #16, it works as well as using my own spit.

please help

thank you so verry veery much.

put in some bulkheads, cap on the bottom, and youre done :)

the problem with the bulkhead idea, thought about it too, is that the tank would sit uneven.

i also weighed down the piece i was trying to glue to the bottom.

can you just cut out a hole in the stand? a bulkhead is the most secure, watertight method IMO. you can even put a valve on one and use it as a drain

not really, cinder block under it.

i also have some mr sticky's that iam going to try soon as i remove the falty acrylic patch but, iam unsure it would work.

i choose weld on 16 due to it being a hit with everyone else on here, some how i was screwed.

yah the acrylic softens, the weldon gets real thick and gooey after being in contact with the acrylic.
iam able to break the "seal" with a nice hit with a hammer and the handle of a chisel. only trying to remove because it leaks as if the acrylic is just sitting there withut glue, leaking like a sieve.

i seriously think i was sold a bad batch, or something, but weld on has left me frustrated and pissed.

iam pretty sure the patch is acrylic was sold to me by a local place here that cuts and fabricates stuff with acrylic.

Did you take a look at the link.. especially the part about using the weld-on like a silicone bead?
