Iapetus

One of the most mysterious objects of our solar system is Iapetus.



Iapetus is one of Saturns larger moons.

He has many mysterious features that can´t be explained till today. One of the most striking features is the great mountain range.

That mountain range goes completly around the moons equator.





Its still not clear how exactly that wall was created. It is is more than 13 km high (higher than Mt Everest). What do you think about that?

Imagine how scary it would be if you were trapped on Iapetus by yourself

There are many theories...none of them is satisfactory. One says that Iapetus had one a ring similar the Saturn and that ring collapsed on the moon. Another theroy says that the wall was created as the moon was created and liquid from inside got pressed outwards. But as i said, its still a complete mystery...

We will know, once the first space probe lands there. Till yet we only have pics of the Cassini spacecraft

There's alot of strange things(moons) in our solar system. This is one of them. I like Mimas too.
