Getting an ibc dropped off tomorrow and want to know if im able to cut a section of the cage out and put in an acrylic panel, have been googling and looking at YouTube alot but still not finding alot of info to satisfy.

Looking at drilling holes all around the panel and using some sort of metal strips as the washers for better safety and just bolts every 1inch around the edge.

Whats the best way of doing this, seems very straightforward, but don't want to waste an ibc if metal starts leeching down the track. Since i cant use epoxy over the bolts and strips on the inside.

Has anyone done a window in an ibc with long term luck?

Thanks.

I’m no tank builder so take my comment with a grain of salt, but it’s my understanding that viewing panels are siliconed in place and the water pressure will keep the window pressed in place while the silicone seals the water in.

Silicone doesnt stick to HDPE plastic.
You would still use silicone between the acrylic and ibc wall as an O ring, my question is wondering whats the best metal bolts/washers to use as ive heard people using stainless steel but after a couple of years they started to leech. And want to know if i cut out some of the ibc cage if it will still be structurally safe.

thought about that but i like the metal cage my IBC has. gonna get a cheap 32" inch tv and mount it to the front w/ a submersible water cam vs viewing panel :)
Have done alot of digging through google, and found out i can cut some cage away and put a panel, going to get that done in the next week or 2, i might throw a step by step thread together with photos, just incase other people out there are interested, i know it would of saved me some time.

would love to see what you do with it. i'll trade pics when i'm done too lol mine been sitting in garage for months but lastnight i did 2nd rinse and hopefully soon will just get a craigslist filter fluval fx6 range. the viewing panel i saw on youtube was a little smaller than the side panel allows for...he did an awesome job but i figured that a large acrylic panel would get a bit scratched up in a few years?

Are you getting set up to host a pay per view fight? That stock list is sure to rumble. Even at minnow size, my Jardini killed and ate plenty of fish. I will not guess the order, but you will end with only one Arowana left in that tub.

Definitely expecting a little ruckus though working w/ the supplier to get a good combo w/ different sizes. Easier to put them in different tanks while this size so will keep a close eye on temperaments and see what works/what doesn't.

Trying for 1 or 2 Leichardti being biggest, med silvers/black, & little jar. Plan is to raise them in there then transfer the Leis/Jars/Ray in a real tank within a year or swap locally.. black + silvers will be sending to fellow MFK K Keagan Mast for his pond when they grow out.

Putting a tree in the middle of the tub to get some aesthetic plus give them their own territories still trying to find a good one w/ lots of branches for both inside + outside. Really want to keep it aro + ray only but any tankmates later to curb aggression still considering when time comes.

Just got https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078TYKFCN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but ended up returning it this morning..came across a used FX6 so should be up & running in next few weeks.
