does anyone know how think the ice is (or if there is ice) on the lakes in NH. xmas break is commin up and i wanna know if ill be able to set up the shanty and not fall thru. Does anyone ice fish in December in around NH

Most of the ponds and smaller lakes are iced over up here. Not sure how thick the ice is though. I wouldn't go out on it yet. May be ok in a few weeks. You might want to check with the NH fish and game department on ice conditions. We are supposed to get a big snow storm this weekend. THis added blanket of snow will cover up and soft areas in the ice. Be extra careful if you go.
There are a 2 recreational smelt fishing places that I drive by everyday on a large river. I know they can't wait to get some shacks on the ice. I bet one place will have some shacks out this weekend, even though the river is still open in the middle.

yea i have no intention of going out before new years, i jus dont remember hearing anything about icefishing in late december/ lat JAn which is wen i wanna go and i dont feel much like falling thru the ice.
