why do you want a 14 inch pike?

i have been on the ice a few days not as much as i would like, its hard to get some one motivated to come out on the frozen ice in -20c.
we were out on the ice in November and it was 8" thick caught a couple rainbows on sliver spoon but no pics.

one thing about living in central alberta its cold -15c to -40c plus wind all winter

need to get out and check the lake it must be thick enough to drive on now.
need to get out on the bigger bodies of water for pike, walleye and perch also hoping to get some burbot this year .

many many perch and crappies have been gotten by me. last tues i got 50+ perch with 20 keepers around 10", crappies between 10-14". good times good times.

i mainly want a pike but the number or inches was random but cool cause its somewhat decent to pull out of the ice..

you wouldn't feel a 14" pike on the line. now when you set the hook and the line rips out of your hand and pulls you tward thwe hole thats good time. 36" pike do that, 14" you think your sucker swam into a weed.

he was talking about tip ups . read it again, "line rips out of your hand" our smallest pike this year is about 20 inchs. If your using bait that a 14 incher can swallow it might be time to up the size of your shiners. Say a 5 inch shiner should be good. I myself prefer creek chubs and some use suckers.
