Icefishing season is here!

Ice on my favorite lake was 2 1/2" last night and after a night in the teens im betting there's 3" or more. Thats enough ice for me(165#), I'll be pulling 10" bluegills out. I have bags of fish in my freezer but fresh fish caught today is on the dinner menu for tonight. I got my hummingbird charged up, poles restrung with new line and the shanty is ready(no need so soon in the year for the shanty). ICEFISHING SEASON IS ON!!!

No safe ice for me yet in the chicago area. I'm hoping some small ponds to be safe by next weekend.

keep a look out we got some in lower michigan at least lake channels, my guess is ill be out on the main lakes by Wed.

I'll get a 12' 2x10 and lay it out on the ice for support,have used 16' ladders but they tend to freeze to the ice and its a pain to spud out..3" of ice is plenty.. I will not be denied first ice bluegills..
